About me
Michael Moyer, Ph.D., LPC-S is a Professor in the Department of Counseling, Health & Kinesiology at Texas A&M University – San Antonio and Faculty Fellow for Graduate Studies. He received his master’s in counseling and doctorate in counselor education and supervision from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Throughout his tenure as a counselor educator, Dr. Moyer has taught various courses, however, most often enjoys teaching courses related to ethical and legal issues in counseling, practicum, and development of counseling skills. Some of Dr. Moyer’s primary research interests include ethical decision making, non-suicidal self-injury, and counselor education. Dr. Moyer is a past president of the Texas Counseling Association and continues to be involved in professional organizations. In additional to his teaching, research and involvement in professional organizations, Dr. Moyer maintains a small private practice where he supervises new counselors and specializes in working with individuals who self-injure.
