Passionate about education, she mentors students and fosters an inclusive learning environment that reflects the diverse backgrounds of her students.
With over a decade of experience in mental health services, clinical supervision, and higher education, Dr. Yu is deeply committed to supporting diverse communities, training future mental health professionals, and advancing the field of psychology through education, research, and advocacy. Her clinical and academic work is rooted in culturally responsive care, with a strong focus on supporting Asian American adolescents. Her dissertation explored coping strategies in the context of acculturation-based parent-child conflicts and their relation to mental health outcomes such as depression and anxiety. Dr. Yu also played a key role in developing a practicum program through the Training Academy at Asian Health Services, mentoring interns and coordinating training sessions.
