About me
Dr. Caprica Wells is an innovator who continues to defy the odds with strength and compassion. She is an educator who has spoken at women's conferences, youth conferences, leadership conferences, school assemblies, church services and business meetings. By using her bridge-building speaking gift, along with a little humor, audiences are transformed into revolutionary thinkers in their field.
Being raised in poverty as an only child to a single mother with schizophrenia, and teaching and coaching in lower socio-economic schools allow her to connect to multiple people on different levels. Understanding that education was the key, she excelled in academics and sports at Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas. She received an Associate’s Degree from Temple Junior College, her Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Texas State University, and her Master’s Degree from Texas A&M Kingsville with a Principal Certification. She also received her Doctorate in Education from Texas A&M Kingsville with a Superintendent Certification.
Her soon-to-be-released book entitled, I Am Me, is a coming-of-age book that tackles the notion that true identity changes and has to be revisited at different phases of your life. She shares powerful "bridges" that were made, or she built, along the way. She has been a liaison between middle and high school. She has been voted First Year Teacher of the Year by Northside ISD, as well as received a North East ISD Superintendent's Award for her ability to motivate and inspire. She is an honoree of Who’s Who San Antonio Women and was recognized in its magazine. While serving on multiple city boards like Clarity Mental Health and the Carver Community Cultural Center, she attends leadership development programs like Leadership San Antonio. She continues her leadership efforts as an executive director in a school district, pushing people to their next level of destiny. She lives in San Antonio and is the consultant to two adult children. It is now an honor to serve as the President of Alamo Area Alliance of Black School Educators.
